All Things Taupe

Taupe is one of those shades that looks good with just about anything, whether it be on your eyes, fingers or toes. It is one of those colours that even though it is neutral, there is still something interesting about it and it suits near enough everyone. Whatever the occasion and whatever the weather, you just can’t go wrong with a bit of taupe.

Eyeshadow sticks are one of the most convenient makeup products around, so what is better than one in a shimmering taupe colour? Nothing is the answer. Sadly this Topshop Eye Crayon in Mystical is no longer available but I know that By Terry offer up something very similar which I very much have my beady eyes set upon! The point of this story is that if you are in a pickle and need something quick and easy, a taupe shadow stick is perfect because it gives some great definition but is not too intense for a day time smoky eye, but at the same time it can be built up to something a little more sassy for the evening.

A taupe eyeshadow in powder form is an essential in anyone’s makeup bag because the earthy tones are perfect for just a light dusting of colour or if you like, for more of that Olsen twin edge. If you prefer something that is a little on the warmer side, Dior’s eyeshadow in Panama is great because it can either be applied quite sheerly or can be built up to something more intense, a perfect mutli-tasking product! Or, the cult favourite that is Satin Taupe by MAC is a little cooler than the Dior offering but it is so wearable and such a complementary shade that you just can’t go wrong with it!

Now we have discussed taupe on the eyes, let’s talk about taupe on the talons! A very strong contender in this department is the is the Marc Jacobs Enamoured Hi-Shine Lacquer in Delphine, a perfect colour that will go with anything and it just looks so polished and put together! Plus, with the new Marc Jacobs Beauty shop that has opened up in London, this beauty is now a lot more accessible, what more could you ask for?

What are your favourite taupe products?

  1. I have that Top Shop crayon, and although I didn’t love the product itself, I did love the colour! I’ve started using the Rimmel Scandaleyes crayon in Bad Gal Bronze – it’s definitely got more gold tones to it than the top shop taupe crayon, but it’s worth trying if you are in the market for a cousin product. 🙂
